Football Impact on Leadership and Community Role Modeling
We assessed our program contribution to leadership development and girls role modeling in the community. The results of the annuals girls survey which we consuct annuallly showed that 78.8% of participants in our program actively participate in football, reinforcing its popularity and influence among young girls. Additionally, 90.3% of participants view football as a safe space, demonstrating its role in creating a supportive and empowering environment. Football also fostered leadership skills, with 81.6% of participants acknowledging that it has helped them develop leadership abilities.
Despite the positive impact on leadership, 40% believe they have not taken on leadership roles within MTG, suggesting room for improvement in providing leadership opportunities. However, 76.7% feel that football has made them role models in their communities, showing that participation in the sport extends beyond personal growth to inspiring others. These results emphasize the role of football as a transformative tool for empowerment, leadership, and social influence.
