"Women are the first victims of war, but only they hold the unique key to peace." - Julienne Lusenge. As the only national women-led fund in the DRC, the Fonds pour les Femmes Congolaises (FFC) delivers vital financial & technical support to grassroots organizations in the most remote, conflict-affected areas. By contributing to the FFC Core Support Fund, you provide the flexible funding needed to sustain our ongoing empowerment programs and launch immediate emergency relief when crises strike.
Women and girls in the DRC face extreme challenges, including systemic gender-based violence, climate injustice, and deep-seated poverty, all compounded by ongoing conflict and sudden humanitarian crises. While grassroots, women-led organizations are the first to respond and hold the keys to lasting peace, they are severely underfunded, isolated in remote areas, and lack the flexible resources needed to sustain daily programs while pivoting to meet urgent emergency needs.
FFC provides flexible financial and technical grants directly to grassroots, women-led groups in the DRC. By bypassing traditional funding barriers, we enable local advocates to sustain vital long-term programs, like ending sexual violence and advancing reproductive health, while remaining agile enough to launch immediate, life-saving emergency responses when sudden crises arise. We fuel local solutions by putting resources directly into women's hands.
By building a resilient network of well-funded, capable grassroots organizations, this project shifts power to local women leaders to drive sustainable peace across the DRC. Long-term, this ensures thousands of women and girls gain permanent access to reproductive healthcare, economic independence, and protection from violence. Ultimately, providing flexible core funding creates a self-sustaining ecosystem of local changemakers equipped to survive crises and transform communities.
