Thank you for supporting La Nuestra

By Mariana Chavez Sanchez | Project Manager

With your support, La Nuestra continues advancing gender justice through sports/football with girls and women in Barrio 31, Argentina.

In the past three months, La Nuestra held football training sessions simultaneously on four fields for 200 participants (girls and women ranging from 6 to 50+ years old) and competitions and recreational activities every weekend for the children and youth divisions. Additionally, we held regular meetings with a psychologist and a social worker to co-design and set up an interdisciplinary mental health team to accompany the players.

Together with Women Win, we kicked off “Hagamos La Nuestra”, a learning community facilitated by us and comprised of three organisations from Brazil, Colombia, and El Salvador that are active in the football ecosystem in their communities. The aim of this programme is to explore what feminist governance in sports could look like in the region.

Lastly, we delivered a Comprehensive Sexual Education workshop for 30 adolescents between 12 and 15 years old from the under-14 division.

Activities planned for the next three months:

  1. Continue strengthening the interdisciplinary mental health team to be able to provide holistic accompaniment to the players. We continuously support the mental health of several at-risk players whose rights have been violated.
  2. Continue participating in tournaments organised by the Barrio 31 Children's Football Commission and the LIFFEBA tournament for the under-8 through to the under-19 division.
  3. Deliver a Comprehensive Sexual Education workshop for the players of the under-16 and under-19 divisions.
  4. Continue holding two weekly training sessions for 200 players.

Your support allows us to cover the costs for:

  • Transportation to tournaments and workshops.
  • Sports equipment
  • Salaries for the interdisciplinary mental health office and the professionals accompanying the players
  • Drinks and food for players during tournaments and workshops
  • Conditioning of the office space where we operate and its overhead expenses

Join us as we celebrate the wins of La Nuestra to advance gender justice in and through sports and play in Barrio 31, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
