GCHS: Journey of Transformation

Over the last few months, we have made tremendous progress on our primary goal to

improve the skills of the educators and the standards of teaching. We are doing this by:

  • Creating a better learning environments for students
  • Embedding a culture of learning where all stakeholders take responsibility for improving teaching and learning within the schools
  • Project Update

On May 1st 2019, the “Women and Youth Empowerment Programme” was launched by Hon. Joseph M. Matthews Jr. (Parliamentary Representative for District #3, Gbarpolu County) .

As part of this initiative, the GBARMA CENTRAL HIGH School of EXCELLENCE and INNOVATION computer Program was formally commissioned. We were very pleased that the MP demonstrated his continued support by donating five computers and a printer.

  • Challenges &Proposed Solutions

The school has only the two solar panels which we helped to install last February. This is insufficient to power on the printer and all seven computers at the same time.

Two or more solar panels to enable them generate additional power before the end of the new academic term, which begins in September.

Cost:US$2,450.00  (includes battery and installation costs).

Our ICT facilitator is a volunteer and unable to regularly self-fund the weekly trip from Monrovia to Gbarma. This means that despite the huge achievement in being the only school to offer computer classes in the district, the students have had only one session to date.

A motor bike and/or travel allowance, as a matter of urgency. Cost: US$450.00

  • What YOU can do

We are grateful for the ongoing support of all our partners. In less than seven months, together we have achieved so much; the community is experiencing real hope and committed to their own progress.

Join us on this journey of transformation by donating any amount to these solutions.

Thank you.
