This project aims to improve the nutritional and health status of street children in Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, through a structured food assistance program. It will provide regular hot, balanced meals to vulnerable children aged 6 to 17, conduct nutritional screening and refer malnutrition cases to health facilities, and offer awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and child protection.
Street children in the city of Bukavu suffer from malnutrition and food insecurity, worsened by limited access to healthcare and poor hygiene conditions, as well as armed conflicts. Their vulnerability leads to health problems and social exclusion. The project addresses this need by providing regular meals, nutritional monitoring, and awareness activities on hygiene and child protection.
This project will help children by providing: 1. Regular, balanced meals to reduce hunger and malnutrition. 2. Nutritional monitoring and medical referrals to detect and treat malnutrition. 3. Awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and child protection to prevent disease and promote well-being. 4. Psychosocial and educational support to foster social reintegration and overall development.
This project will have a lasting impact on the community by reducing malnutrition and food insecurity among street children, improving their health and well-being, and strengthening their autonomy and social reintegration. By combining food assistance, education, and hygiene awareness, it helps break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability while raising community awareness about the protection and development of vulnerable children.
