We are excited to share an important update on the Feeding Pets of the Homeless documentary: filming is complete, and the project has entered post-production.
Earlier this year, our filmmakers traveled to Los Angeles, San Diego, Skid Row, Reno and our headquarters in Carson City to capture the stories at the heart of this feature-length documentary.
The film follows people experiencing homelessness and the beloved animals who remain by their sides. Their stories offer an intimate look at companionship, resilience and the powerful human-animal bond, while challenging common misconceptions about people experiencing homelessness and their pets.
Now, those stories are coming together.
FROM PRODUCTION TO POST-PRODUCTION
With filming complete, our director/producers at Junius Films are moving into the next phase of the project. Post-production is where our over 70 hours of footage are shaped into the final film through editing, sound, music, color and other finishing work.
This stage is critical to creating a documentary that honors the people who trusted us with their stories and presents their experiences with the care and dignity they deserve.
Our goal remains bigger than simply making a film.
We want this documentary to help audiences better understand why pets can be such an important source of companionship, security and unconditional love for people experiencing homelessness. We also hope it contributes to a larger conversation about the need for pet-inclusive services and shelter options.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless works every day to help keep people and their pets together. Through this documentary, we have an opportunity to bring that mission to audiences far beyond the communities we reach through our direct-service programs.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING US GET HERE
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this project.
Every gift helps move this film closer to completion.
As post-production continues, your support will help cover the costs required to finish the documentary and prepare it to reach audiences.
We look forward to sharing more with you as the film takes shape, including future updates about its completion and opportunities to see and share it.
Thank you for believing these stories deserve to be seen.
