Thanks to you, The Sholly Serenity Place is currently providing Shelter. Food and Healthcare for four moms and eight children!
Right now, our ten-bed shelter has no availability as all our rooms are full. I am so grateful to God for the courage of these women to leave their life-threatening situations to a safe and loving place where they can think and work out their next steps. I know it is not an easy decision to make.
Our newest resident - our saddest case to date, coming with her body covered in horrible bruises - was referred to us by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team. She is not only physically battered, her sense of self-worth has taken a huge beating. But slowly, gradually, just after about two weeks of being loved on, she is coming out of that dark place.
The bulk of the funds you have given us has gone towards feeding our residents. Our monthly catering bill used to be about $206. With a full house, we now spend about $303.00 and thanks to you, Dear Donor, the financial weight of this recurring cost is lighter considering that we have other expenses - education, power, and household provisions/supplies being the top three.
