Malnutrition is a critical risk in rural India and good nutrition and access to adequate food remains a challenge to child survival. Poverty is a growing reality in Rural Karnataka that we face on a daily basis. It largely affects children from all demographic groups throughout the villages. Malnutrition in early childhood has serious, long-term consequences because it impedes motor, sensory, cognitive, social and emotional development. Malnourished children are less likely to perform well in school and more likely to grow into malnourished adults, at greater risk of disease and early death. Around one-third of all children from marginalized sector are underweight. Targetted Supplementary Feeding Program will address the whole issue
Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) will target all the moderately malnourished children.. Community nutrition workers will be trained in a harmonized package to enable them offer a standardized package of care at the community level. Part of what is covered in the community included exclusive nutritional supplies along with the regular meal.The wholesome meal helps children from class room hunger and side effects of Anemia
Provide high quality nutritious food to 2000 children Community nutrition workers give awareness in the communities to pregnant and lactating mothers on the importance of attending ante-natal and post-natal clinics and importance of adequate nutrition during pregnancy and lactation. Provide Vitamin A supplementation to all children admitted in nutrition program; this will be administered based on MOH protocols.of nutrition health and hygiene messages during household visits and feeding days
