Foodbank of Indonesia through the Mother's Wing Program will provide nutritious meals for 23.404 children in poor and marginalized areas of Jakarta. By doing this, we can bring closer access to food, prevent kid's malnutrition, and ignite hopes for supporting children to spread their wings achieving dreams.
Jakarta is the heart capital of Indonesia. Though many skyscrapers are standing majestically, inequalities and poverty are still high in the urban area. The fact that 1 in 5 (19.96%) kids under five are stunted. Global Hunger Index mentioned Indonesia still suffers from a serious level of hunger. Also, the global pandemic made the economy of parents even more difficult. This program will end hunger, open wider to food access, and feed 23.404 children in poor communities in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Through the Foodbank of Indonesia program called Mother's Wing, we provide nutrition intervention for children by giving them nutritious and healthy meals, parenting education, and women empowerment for the mothers. To lower the number of stunting and increase the nutritional status, we collaborate with many volunteers and stakeholders. The food we deliver to kids is locally based and homely made referring to a balanced diet (carbs, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and water).
The first 1,000 days of life (between a mom's pregnancy and the child's second birthday) offer an opportunity to shape a child's development. So parents need to give them the best physical, mental stimulation and food intake. Foodbank of Indonesia wants to make sure that these 23.404 kids get all nutrients they need even though they live-in underprivileged neighborhoods. If we build healthy children since their early days, we build more productive and competitive generations in the future.
