Dear Supporters,
Through this ' Mid-Day Meal for School Children' project - Partnerships for Change is trying to address the hunger and malnourishment problem in young children in India. A hungry body and mind cannot focus on learning!
Many families in the rural parts of the Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh belong to low income groups and are typically below the poverty line i.e. $2/day. The average size of the family is 4-5 members. The children from these families go to the schools run by charity institutions or government. While the schools can offer them education, a more basic need of food and nutrition needs to be supplemented in order to make them perform better academically.
This online campaign on the Global Giving Platform is to help construct and run a permanent semi-automated kitchen to feed school children in this select geography and then scale the model to other rural geopgraphies which need it.
We want to 'Thank you' once again for your generous donation to our school meal program in Andhra Pradesh, India. With your support, we raised close to $6,000. With this amount, we have started a basic homemade food program in the school's kitchen. In the meanwhile, we are reaching out to our network and some CSR programs to raise another ~ $50,000. Which will enable us to put a semi-automated kitchen with required machinery. This kitchen will have the ability to cook meals for 2,000 - 5,000 people at a time in just few hours, every day.
We hope to raise the required amount in next couple of months and start the construction of the kitchen and buy the machines to fully implement the project.
We request your continued support towards this project and to Partnerships For Change.
Sincerely,
Geetika Tewari
