Every morning, hundreds of animals at VINE Sanctuary wake up hungry for breakfast, and our LGBTQ-led team gets to work filling bowls and putting out hay while imagining ways to make the world safer for everybody. Members of our multispecies community include survivors of the most extreme cruelty. Our on-site care work informs everything else we do, from local humane education to innovative international initiatives. When you feed sanctuary animals today, you plant seeds of freedom for tomorrow!
Hundreds of chickens, cows, sheep, ducks, goats, geese, and other animals inhabit the hundred-acre woods at VINE Sanctuary. We all collaborate to co-create a place that is safe for everybody. Sanctuary residents include survivors of the meat, dairy, and egg industries, domestic violence, cockfighting, hunting, vivisection, and zoos. Some are elder or disabled. Many have survived starvation. All wake up every morning hungry for breakfast. Their care is our highest cost, and prices are rising.
Everything begins with breakfast. But your gift today will do more. In addition to caring for animals, we work to end the abuses that make sanctuaries necessary. Working within respectful relationships with animals, we devise strategies that reflect their interests. Activists elsewhere take action. In this way, birdseed leads to change. By buying a sack of grain or bale of hay, you become part of a community of care and action that stretches far beyond the boundaries of the sanctuary.
Our humane education programs teach children compassion and respect for differences. Local events promote vegan eating and veganic gardening. Lectures, workshops, and podcasts bring lessons learned at the sanctuary to students and activists around the world. Innovative efforts such as our work within LGBTQ+ communities broaden the animal advocacy movement. It all starts with the simple act of offering refuge and care to survivors of violence. By funding that care, you make it all possible.
