Promoting food production

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generosity in assisting us feed starving children. Our problem is compounded with the Coronavirus pandemic affecting our communities. There is no clear solution yet except for social distancing measures and good hygiene in order not to catch the virus. Although children are less vulnerable it is the effect to their parents that will make their lives miserable. This reporting period we continue to devise means so that food is secured even to the poorest communities by facilitating the planting and growing of highly-nutritious crops for food as well as for income by small-scale, marginal farmers. We are very successful in this aspect and enlisting the assistance of the youth in the food production activities. This reporting period we are able to support the growing of home-gardens to 75 households. Hoping for your continuing support.

Very sincerely yours,

Jed Christian

Cacao as high-valued crop
Cacao as high-valued crop

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project feeding children who have very little access to food and nutrition. Without proper food supply, this will prevent their well-balanced growth and success in life. The need is indeed urgent here especially with the advent of climate change and difficulty of farmers to produce their own food. This reporting period, we focused our effort in introducing high-valued crops to farmers so that they are able to earn good income. We provide them with training support from one of our model demonstration farms. We also provide them with planting materials so that they are able to start their own production and sustainably improve their access to higher income. We are able to train a total of 120 farmers using this approach this reporting period.

Hoping for your continuing support.

Very sincerely yours,

Jed Christian Sayre

Egg supply
Egg supply

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generosity in supporting our work feeding starving children. We are aiming to nurture vulnerable children and provide them needed sustenance in order for them to become productive adults. If we don't respond to their needs now, they will have severe health and mental difficulties when they grow as adults and their families as well as the communities where they are living will gain negative impact. This reporting period, we provided 65 children and their families with weekly supply of eggs coming from local farms. Eggs have very high protein and with the supply, we are predicting improvement in the health of these children. We thank much local supporters of this initiative and we hope too to get additional support from friends living abroad.

Hoping for your continuing generosity.

Very sincerely yours,

Jed Christian

Small livelihoods
Small livelihoods

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project providing nutritious meals to children of very poor families. This project is indeed very important especially during this time when the severe and violent changes in weather patterns have wrecked havoc to farming and local livelihoods making farmers having difficulty making ends meet. The need to provide ways to improve their livelihoods is indeed imperative so that they are no longer dependent on food support and other hand-outs. This reporting period and with the help of local donors we are able to provide small-scale livelihoods to 158 very poor families living near poblacion area. The most sought after livelihood is food stall and vending business.

Again thank you very much for your generosity.

Very sincerely yours,

Jed Christian

Vinegar production
Vinegar production

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your support to our project feeding starving children. A series of unfortunate circumstances mainly brought about by climate change has made life difficult for families living in remote communities here. Long dry spell or extreme rainy season makes farming difficult and harvest less, making families hungry on long stretches. This reporting period, we designed a way for the families to be able to feed themselves by helping them engage in local livelihood activities using products readily available in the farm that has little value when sold as raw. For example, root plants like turmeric will sell as little as 20 cents a kilo but when processed the market vaue skyrockets. Water also from harvested coconutscost nothing but when stored and pasteurized can be made into organic vinegar and command high price in the market. This time aroud and with partnership with a local cooperative, we are able to assist 15 women and their families produce turmeric powder, organic vinegar, chili paste, chili powder and taro chips from produce in the farm. We aim to assist additional families like this as we continue to implement this initiative.

Again thank you very much.

Gratefully yours,

Jed
