The project serves 150 beneficiaries ranging in age from 3 - 18 years who come from the Emdeni township in Soweto. The children have been affected by HIV and AIDS & TB. Some have been orphaned, some live with ill parents and some with Grandparents. No child should go hungry. Children cannot perform in school if they are hungry or take medicine. This project will supply 150 vulnerable children with daily meals and assist their families with sustenance farming and emotional support..
Hunger and Malnutrition are a daily reality for vulnerable children at Emdeni drop-in centre. The centre was established to assist vulnerable and orphaned children affected by HIV/Aids and TB. The development of children remains of primary importance if we wish to break the cycle of poverty and disease. Our caregivers ensure that children attend school. When it comes to pre-primary education, this usually means that we take responsibility for enrolment and school fees.
AKB provides physical, emotional, educational, social, and recreational support to vulnerable children in Soweto/Emdeni at an after-school center. -Food provided includes breakfast, a balanced lunch, two fruits, and sandwiches. -Healthcare includes visits to local clinics and supervision of medication. -Therapy includes bereavement therapy and life skills training. -Assisting families with land for sustenance vegetable gardens.
