Dear Supporters,
Food security and safe water are closely connected. Nutritious food supports health, but safe water is also needed for cooking, hygiene, and preventing disease. Families facing hunger often also experience limited access to clean water and sanitation, increasing the risk of illness.
Across northern Nigeria, vulnerable households may struggle to maintain healthy diets while also managing the cost and availability of safe water. When children lack both adequate nutrition and clean water, their health can become even more fragile. Illness can reduce appetite, weaken the body, and increase the risk of malnutrition.
Empower Future Initiative recognizes that effective humanitarian response must consider the full picture of household well-being. Food, hygiene, clean water, and nutrition awareness all contribute to stronger families and healthier communities.
Improving food security is most powerful when combined with broader efforts that protect health, dignity, and resilience. A healthy future begins with the basic resources families need every day.
Best wishes,
Empower Future Initiative Team
