Dear Supporters,
Food insecurity is often seen through statistics, but its real cost appears in the daily choices families are forced to make. In many vulnerable households across northern Nigeria, parents must decide whether to buy food, pay for transport, seek medical care, or keep children in school. These choices are not easy, and they show how deeply hunger affects family life.
When food becomes unaffordable, households may reduce meal sizes, buy less nutritious food, borrow from neighbors, or sell useful belongings. These coping strategies may help families survive in the short term, but they can also weaken long-term resilience and push families deeper into poverty.
Empower Future Initiative understands that food security is central to family stability. Helping households access nutritious food protects health, education, dignity, and hope. It also reduces the pressure that forces families into harmful survival decisions.
Supporting food security means protecting families from impossible choices and helping communities move toward recovery.
Best wishes,
Empower Future Initiative Team
