The lean season is one of the most challenging times of the year for vulnerable families across northern Nigeria. During this period, household food stocks become depleted, food prices increase, and access to nutritious meals becomes increasingly difficult. For millions already living in poverty, the lean season can quickly become a hunger emergency.
This year, humanitarian agencies estimate that tens of millions of Nigerians are facing acute food insecurity. Families are skipping meals, reducing portion sizes, and making painful sacrifices to survive. Children are particularly vulnerable, with many at risk of malnutrition and related health complications.
Empower Future Initiative is working to provide emergency food assistance and nutrition support to families affected by this crisis. Every food package distributed helps reduce hunger and restore hope during a difficult period.
