We Met 64 People. We Cannot Forget Them.

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

Sometimes, a humanitarian field visit changes the way you understand a crisis.

Our recent visit to Daudu Community in Benue State was one of those moments.

We went to engage with families affected by violent conflict and displacement.

There, we met 64 people with disabilities who had been displaced from their communities.

Sixty-four people whose needs deserve attention.

Sixty-four people whose dignity deserves protection.

Sixty-four people who should not have to struggle alone to access food and essential services.

For our team, this encounter reinforced something important:

Humanitarian assistance must reach the people who face the greatest barriers to accessing it.

Food distributions are meaningful, but we must also consider whether everyone can reach the distribution point.

We must consider the needs of people with mobility limitations.

We must listen to persons with disabilities and involve them in decisions about the assistance they receive.

And we must recognize that disability inclusion is not an optional addition to humanitarian work. It is an essential part of an effective response.

Through our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, GoGreen is seeking support to provide food and essential relief to displaced persons with disabilities and other vulnerable households.

We cannot meet every need with our current resources.

But with your help, we can reach more people.

We met 64 people in Daudu. We do not want their needs to be forgotten after our visit ends.

Please donate and help us turn this commitment into meaningful assistance.
