A Family May Have Food-But Can They Afford to Cook It?

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

When we think about hunger, we often imagine families without enough food. But for displaced households in Benue State, another challenge is frequently overlooked: the cost of preparing a meal.

Imagine a mother receiving a bag of rice through humanitarian assistance, only to discover that buying cooking fuel will consume money needed for her children's other necessities.

For families who have lost their farms, businesses, homes, and livelihoods to violent conflict, even the smallest daily expense can become overwhelming.

At GoGreen, we believe humanitarian assistance should address these hidden challenges.

That is why, alongside our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, we are promoting biomass briquettes as an alternative cooking fuel that can help vulnerable households reduce their reliance on expensive conventional fuels.

With appropriate cooking equipment and practical guidance, this initiative has the potential to make meal preparation more affordable.

Because providing food is important. Helping families prepare it affordably is equally meaningful.

Your donation can help us provide emergency food assistance while expanding access to practical cooking solutions for vulnerable households.

We are grateful for every contribution that has brought our project this far.

But many more families still need support.

Please help us address the hidden costs of hunger. Your generosity can help families not only receive food but also prepare the meals they desperately need.
