Beyond Food Relief: Helping Displaced Families in Benue Reduce the Cost of Survival.

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

Imagine receiving food assistance but struggling to afford the fuel needed to prepare a meal. For many families displaced by violent conflict in Benue State, this is another painful reality of survival. Having lost their homes, farms, livelihoods, and sources of income, even basic necessities such as cooking fuel have become difficult to afford.

Through our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, GoGreen has been providing much-needed food assistance to vulnerable households, thanks to the generosity of compassionate donors like you.

But we are learning that putting food on the table is only part of the solution. Families also need affordable ways to cook it.

That is why we are expanding our humanitarian response to include biomass briquettes—an alternative cooking fuel produced from compressed organic materials. By promoting access to appropriate briquette cooking solutions and practical skills, we hope to help displaced families reduce their cooking expenses, lessen dependence on costly conventional fuels, and develop opportunities for greater self-reliance.

For a mother struggling to feed her children, every amount saved on cooking fuel can help meet another essential household need. For displaced women, young people, and persons with disabilities, learning practical production skills may also create opportunities for income generation and economic empowerment.

Our vision goes beyond helping families survive today. We want to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and greater independence tomorrow.

But we cannot achieve this alone. Your continued generosity can help us reach more vulnerable households with food assistance, affordable cooking solutions, and practical empowerment opportunities.

A food package can feed a family today. Your support for sustainable solutions can help that family become more resilient tomorrow.

To everyone who has already donated, thank you for making our work possible. Please consider giving again or sharing our project with others who may be willing to help.

They Survived the Violence. Help Them Survive the Hunger—and Rebuild Their Lives.

With heartfelt gratitude,
GoGreen Team
