Before Families Can Rebuild, They Must Survive

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

Before Families Can Rebuild, They Must Survive

In the aftermath of conflict, we often speak about the importance of helping communities rebuild. Yet, before any rebuilding can begin, families must first survive the immediate crisis.

Displaced families in Otukpo-Nobi, as seen during GoGreen’s recent field visit, face urgent and basic needs—food, clean water, shelter for the night, hygiene supplies, and essential household materials. The destruction of homes and loss of livelihoods leave communities struggling to cope with overwhelming challenges.

Long-term recovery—returning to work, rebuilding homes, restoring farms, and resuming children’s education—remains a vital goal. However, humanitarian recovery is a staged process:

  1. Survival: Meeting immediate, life-sustaining needs.
  2. Stability: Creating a safe environment for families.
  3. Rebuilding: Supporting families as they restore their lives and communities.

Through the Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, GoGreen is focusing on that first, most critical stage: survival. By delivering emergency food and essential relief supplies, we offer families the vital support they need to get through the crisis.

Your donation provides the breathing space families need to think beyond survival. It can mean a meal today while they plan for tomorrow, or basic supplies as they seek safety and stability.

Please join us in supporting families at this pivotal moment. Before communities can rebuild their homes and futures, they must first survive the consequences of displacement. Your support ensures they are not alone during this most difficult time.
