Women and Girls Need Dignity as Well as Food
In times of conflict and displacement, the most urgent needs—food and shelter—often come to mind first. However, displacement brings a host of additional challenges, particularly for women and girls.
Privacy and basic hygiene become difficult to maintain in overcrowded or temporary living conditions. Many women must care for children while coping with the loss of their homes, livelihoods, and support networks. For adolescent girls, the lack of access to hygiene materials can make daily life even more challenging and isolating.
During our recent assessment in Otukpo-Nobi, the GoGreen team witnessed the profound impact of violence and heard directly from those affected. The concerns voiced by women and girls emphasized the need for more than just food—they need the means to preserve their dignity and well-being.
That’s why our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project goes beyond food assistance. With the support of our donors, we are providing dignity kits, soap, water containers, hygiene supplies, blankets, sleeping mats, and safe water support along with emergency food relief. These essential supplies, though simple, help restore privacy, comfort, and a sense of dignity during a time of upheaval.
At GoGreen, we believe that humanitarian assistance must do more than keep people alive—it should also help them maintain their dignity and sense of self as they recover and rebuild.
Your support makes this possible. A contribution today can help a displaced mother care for her children, enable a young girl to manage her hygiene with dignity, and remind vulnerable families that they are not alone or forgotten.
