A Farmer Today, Displaced Tomorrow: The Reality

A Farmer Today, Displaced Tomorrow: The Reality in Benue

Before the violence, most families in Benue were self-reliant—cultivating their land, harvesting crops, selling produce, raising livestock, and supporting their children’s education. Their livelihoods depended on the stability of their communities and access to their farms.

The onset of conflict changed everything. Families forced to flee leave behind not only their homes but also their farms, food stores, livestock, tools, and primary sources of income. During our recent assessment in Otukpo-Nobi, the GoGreen team witnessed firsthand how swiftly independent farming households can become reliant on humanitarian assistance.

Displacement disrupts every aspect of daily life. Those who once provided for themselves now face the uncertainty of finding their next meal. Families who once planned for future harvests now struggle to meet basic needs, seeking shelter and safety for their children.

This is the harsh reality for many in Benue—a transition from self-sufficiency to vulnerability almost overnight.

Through the Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, GoGreen is working urgently to deliver food and essential relief materials to displaced and at-risk households enduring ongoing insecurity.

Your support can make a meaningful difference. By donating or sharing our campaign, you help ensure that families forced from their homes by violence receive the immediate assistance they need to survive and begin rebuilding their lives.

Every contribution brings us closer to reaching another family in crisis. Stand with us to offer hope and relief to those who need it most.
