Challenge

"Feed a child to keep him in School program" is based on the WFP report that every day, millions of children go to school hungry leading to low retention in primary and secondary school in Kenya due to absenteeism, low admission leading to poor completion rate and academic performance with attention span short for learners who soldier on. The project will access education for more than 500 needy children, alleviate severe hunger of elderly, malnutrition and improve their health condition.

Solution

Our Feed a child to keep him in School program aims to access primary and secondary education for over 500 very needy children aged between 5years to 18 years, alleviate severe hunger and malnutrition of both the children and the elderly, improve their health condition and give quality education which is key to ending the vicious cycle of poverty.

Long-Term Impact

The project provide nutritious meals for the learners at the school, improve school attendance, improve quality of education and educational performance, improve the health of the learners and will enhance the learning environment which will lead to increased learning motivation, improved school attendance, improved retention and completion rate of learners, increased enrollment of orphans and vulnerable children hence ending the vicious cycle of poverty and improving the health of elderly.
