The Hand to Hand Foundation visits 250 families in the local slums of Pattaya every week. Many of these families have severely disabled children and without access to transport or services the caregivers and the children remain at home 24/7. This often causes isolation where families sometimes feel disconnected to the community and society and even experience depression. When Hand to Hand visits to give food and support, we also bring love and have the opportunity to pray for them.
Our families are all registered with the foundation so that we have information on how many people are living in their home and the struggles that they have. This enables us to be able to accommodate the needs of every individual family more meaningfully. Once a week there is a gathering at the Hand to Hand housing estate, where members of these communities can come together sing a song, pray and just connect to each other. Loneliness is a big issue that needs to be overcome in many of the poor communities in Pattaya.
Hand to Hand is reaching out to these communities not just with only food, but also with love support and friendship as well. Of course, it’s always wonderful for children to receive treats when we come, and we are the highlight of many people’s week.
