SUMMARY

This quarter, our focus has been on maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for domestic violence survivors and their children at our shelter. We have concentrated heavily on providing daily nutritional support and emotional restoration. Through our shelter farm, we continue to grow fresh, healthy produce, ensuring that every resident has reliable access to nourishing meals as they begin their journey of healing

CHALLENGES

Meeting the daily nutritional and medical needs of a changing shelter population presents ongoing financial and operational hurdles. Inflation and the rising costs of supplemental food items, household utilities, and essential medical care make budgeting a constant challenge. Furthermore, maintaining the farm infrastructure and managing consistent crop yields to fully sustain the shelter requires continuous resource and agricultural inputs

SOLUTIONS

To address these challenges, we have maximized the efficiency of our shelter farm to produce a steady supply of fresh vegetables, reducing our dependency on outside markets. We are closely monitoring our resources and practicing mindful kitchen management to eliminate food waste. Additionally, our staff provides integrated care, blending nutritional support with specialized counselling sessions, ensuring survivors receive both physical nourishment and psychological care simultaneously

LONG-TERM IMPACT

By securing consistent food access and safe shelter, we give survivor the breathing room they need to process their trauma and rebuild their lives. The skills they learn while helping manage the farm and shelter tasks instill a sense of purpose and self-reliance. Ultimately, this comprehensive care mode empowers women to transition out of the shelter with the physical strength, emotional resilience, and practical knowledge required to break the cycle of abuse and live independent lives
