Dear friends of the Mbata farmers' project,
Thank you for your continued interest and support in the Smart Agri Centre in Mbata! This project has connected 10 houses and 60 businesses, and a cold store which all continue to thrive on solar power.
The Challenges:
Despite the recent efforts to fix the maize miller, it has unfortunately broken once again and, after several repair attempts, is now in desperate need of replacement. The maize miller is a vital tool for the farmers to add value to their produce by processing it into a more valuable product.
A replacement maize milling machine costs £2360 and so any donations to support the replacement of this equipment would be greatly appreciated.
The Wins:
Our fantastic project partners, Kiima Food, who are on the ground in Uganda, have recently been in Mbata for some maintenance and upgrades!
Peter installed a SWER connection a household. This means that a household that previously had no electricity in the home, is now connected to the central hub via a single wire connection. Peter also installed a lightning arrester to ensure the continued safe functioning of the electrical connections, and finally the solar panels were cleaned and maintained!
If you are able to continute to support it would be absolutely fantastic, and your ongoing support will help to ensure that vital maintenance work in Mbata can continue.
