Life on the Kep Farm is similar to any other community. Residents go to work in the morning, break for lunch, go to the market, attend events, and socialize with their peers. Perhaps not surprisingly, however, all residents say their favourite activity is celebrations. Cambodia celebrates 21 public holidays, many of which span multiple days. With 21 residents living at the Kep Farm, birthdays are abundant. Needless to say, life at the Kep Farm is quite festive.
April was a particularly fun month with three birthdays and Khmer New Year falling within a week of each other. Khmer New Year is one of the largest celebrations in Cambodia and this year was the first time in 2 years that large events were allowed to take place due to the lifting of Covid restrictions nationwide.
People in Cambodia never miss the opportunity for a celebration and the residents of the Kep Farm are no different.
