Hello to all of our supporters and to our community. This is the latest from the team at Retake in regards to our project focusing on photographing families at the border between Texas and Mexico.
We are in touch with our local partners on the ground as they work tirelessly to help the migrant families coming to the border from countries all over. It is busier than ever with people fleeing conflicts, cartels, violence, poverty, and more. After such dangerous journeys to the borders, they are trying to seek asylum. The systems are backlogged, and they are forced to wait in limbo. They rely on the generosity of strangers to help feed, house, and clothe them. They sleep on floors or on cots crammed together.
The stigmas being placed on them by politicans don't help. They're real people trying to better their lives.
We would like to go back in November or December if we can raise enough funds for the project. We know that the trauma-healing photoshoots may be seen as just a small thing to do, but they can bring joy.
Thank you for your past support and contributions. If you'd like to give again, it would be extremely helpful.
