Hello friends and supporters of Retake and in particular, the work we do at the border between the US and Mexico.
We appreciate all of you who give so generously to our project. As a reminder, it is to raise funds for photographing migrant families at the border between the two countries. So many are trying to legally seek asylum into the US and are in a limbo as laws and rules change so frequently. They are oftentimes stuck at the ports of entry and relying on strangers to help house and feed them. They leave everything they own behind and have so little with them. We have gone to the border towns throughout Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico; and Mexico. We have taken their family portraits, had them printed, and brought them back to them so they could have something physical to cherish and hold onto. We know it is a small thing, but it has been expressed to us as a source of joy in a time of uncertainty.
So for everyone who has given donations to this work, we thank you. It is appreciated more than we can express.
We are currently raising funds to go back out to the borders and to do another round of photoshoots. We hope to share good news about that soon!
