This project strengthens families as a vital pillar of holistic wellbeing within Public Montessori education in Puerto Rico. Through family accompaniment, emotional support, parent education, and community-based wellness experiences, families will gain tools to nurture peaceful and healthy environments for children. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy, the project promotes family wellbeing, educational equity, and resilient school communities grounded in dignity, collaboration, and hope.
Puerto Rico continues to face high levels of child poverty, financial instability, emotional stress, and limited access to family support services. Families navigating economic hardship also experience barriers to educational opportunities, mental wellbeing resources, and community support systems. These challenges directly affect children's emotional development, school participation, self-regulation, and long-term academic success, particularly within historically underserved communities in PR
This project will strengthen families through INE's Community Integration and Casa Familiar programs, which accompany school communities through holistic, community-centered support rooted in the Montessori philosophy. Families will participate in emotional wellness experiences, parent education, psychosocial support services, community-building activities, and spaces that promote peace, trust, resilience, and active participation in their children's education.
Cultivate resilient families and peaceful Public Montessori school communities across Puerto Rico. Through long-term family accompaniment, psychosocial support, and community integration, children and caregivers will strengthen relationships, emotional wellbeing, and active participation in education. The project seeks to promote educational equity, healthier communities, and sustainable social transformation rooted in dignity, collaboration, peace, and collective wellbeing.
