Families across Puerto Rico continue to navigate challenges such as child poverty, financial instability, emotional stress, and limited access to family support services. These challenges can affect caregivers' wellbeing and create barriers to educational opportunities, mental health resources, and community support.

For children, these circumstances can influence emotional development, self-regulation, school participation, and long-term academic success.

Families that Transform responds to these challenges by recognizing that educational transformation must include the whole community surrounding a child.

When families have access to meaningful support and opportunities to participate, they are better equipped to create peaceful, healthy, and supportive environments where children can learn and grow.

Through Instituto Nueva Escuela's Integración Comunitaria and Casa Familiar programs, families receive community-centered support rooted in Montessori philosophy.

The project does not view families simply as recipients of services. Instead, families are recognized as partners, leaders, and changemakers who have an important role in shaping the future of Public Montessori education in Puerto Rico.

Building a Lasting Impact

The long-term vision of Families that Transform: Public Montessori for PR is to cultivate resilient families and peaceful Public Montessori school communities throughout Puerto Rico.

Through continued family accompaniment, psychosocial support, parent education, and community integration, children and caregivers can strengthen their relationships, emotional wellbeing, and participation in education.

The project also contributes to a broader vision of educational equity and sustainable social transformation. By strengthening the people and relationships surrounding children, the initiative works toward communities where families have the resources, connections, and opportunities necessary to thrive.

Your Investment

The project has established a $160,000 fundraising goal. At this stage, $816 has been raised by 8 donors, leaving $159,184 remaining toward the goal.

With four months dedicated to fundraising, continued donor support will be essential to advancing this work and reaching more families throughout Puerto Rico.
