Dear Friends of FAME,
Thank you for Giving Health and Giving Life this Giving Tuesday. Every donation helps ensure we can continue helping our community, so thank you! We feel privileged that you selected our project to support out of so many wonderful causes.
By adding your donation, you've become a part of our community of supporters and we're thrilled to have you on the team. With your help we raised over $31,000 on Giving Tuesday, putting FAME in the TOP TEN of 4000+ charities to participate in Giving Tuesday!!!
Please consider telling your friends and family about our work. Sharing with your community why you chose to support our organization will help us increase the work we can do in our community. Thank you again for all you have done to help this cause.
With gratitude,
Robert Kovacs
With Giving Tuesday only two weeks away, it's time to find out how much impact your donations are having in Tanzania!
Primary Care: In Quarter 3 alone, FAME had more than 7,500 patient visits. With a staff of 14 doctors, this means that each doctor had more than 500 consultations.
Maternal and Child Health: Our new Maternity Center opened in August, and on November 15 FAME hosted local government representatives for an official ribbon cutting ceremony. The new Maternity Center has enabled FAME to expand from 9 beds, 2 incubators, and 2 delivery rooms to 24 patient beds, 4 delivery suites, and 3 infant incubators in a special care nursery.
Surgery: To increase FAME's capacity for general surgical emergencies, as well as elective surgeries that can prevent life-long disabilities, FAME embarked on a year-long partnership with the Creighton University Global Surgery Fellowship Program. Our FAME team has already conducted over 380 major surgeries this year.
Community Outreach & Special Clinics: Our neurology clinic was a great success this quarter. In partnership with our Tanzanian medical team, the visiting neurology team managed to screen 405 neurology patients at FAME and in the field at low- resource health facilities. Of these, 88 were patients with epilepsy, many of whom received their diagnosis and the medications to manage their disorder for the very first time. FAME also recently concluded a two- week cervical cancer screening clinic and continues to provide ongoing screenings in the districts surrounding Karatu.
