“Volunteering with F4FN at first started out as just a project to get my community service hours, but it’s so much more. While volunteering for F4FN I felt as if I was really making a difference in these children’s lives and the community.”- Nicholas Rodrigo (F4FN Volunteer)
This Spring, Fishing for Families in Need (F4FN) offered our Responsible Angling Education Program to the Florence Fuller Child Development Center and the Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade and Kendall. In every program, the kids are taught the anatomy of fish, how to properly cast a fishing rod, how to throw a cast net, how to tie various fishing knots, and on topics including: marine conservation, invasive species, ocean pollution, and the perils of overfishing. As well, each child received their very own fishing rod and tackle box at the end of the 8 week cirriculum. Through these programs we were able to positively impact 50 children in the South Florida area since January 2018.
We are also currently in conversation to expand the Responsible Angling Education Program to St. Johns in the Virgin Islands through the Gifft Hill School.
This year, we aim to positively impact over 200 children in South Florida and the Caribbean. If you would like to help make sure that our organization continues to offer this great programming, I encourage you to support F4FN through a one-time or recurring donation. Help us safeguard the future of South Florida and the Caribbean's marine ecosystems by giving today and joining us in the effort!
Sincerely,
Nicholas C. Metropulos
