Over the past months, our team at Desafío Levantemos Chile, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and local communities in Southern Araucanía, has been working steadily to prepare the upcoming Eye Surgery Mission.
We have focused on prevention and early detection, organizing community health screenings and information sessions to identify elderly residents suffering from cataracts and other treatable eye conditions. These efforts have helped us reach dozens of families living in rural areas, ensuring that when the surgical campaign begins, the right patients are prioritized and properly supported.
In parallel, we have strengthened partnerships with local hospitals and ophthalmology professionals, finalizing logistics for operating rooms, volunteer teams, and post-surgery follow-up protocols. This groundwork is crucial to guarantee both medical quality and sustainability of the mission.
Although we still need to raise additional funds to reach our goal of 144 surgeries, every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to restoring sight and dignity to elderly people in Araucanía who have been waiting for years.
We deeply thank our two initial donors for believing in this cause. Your support allows us to move forward with the coordination, training, and outreach that make this mission possible. Together, we are building the foundation for brighter and clearer futures.
