This project is aiming at increasing rabies vaccination coverage among dogs and improve community awareness of responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals. The interventions will include mobile vaccination clinics, community outreach, welfare educational campaigns, basic veterinary treatment, and sterilization. this project will be carried out in Kasese Uganda by Mama Beatrinia Foundation an organization that works to promote animal welfare.
In Kasese Uganda, a large number of dogs remain unvaccinated against rabies, posing a serious threat to both human and animal populations. Additionally, there is widespread lack of awareness among dog owners about proper pet care. Dogs suffering from injuries, wounds and diseases are often neglected. In many cases, they are left untreated, allowed to die or subjected to harmful traditional practices such as applying ash or crude oils to wounds. This leads to severe infection & prolonged suffering
The project will vaccinate dogs against rabies, educate the community on dog welfare, provide basic veterinary treatment for sick and injured animals and sterilize dogs. We will use mobile veterinary clinic that travels to the villages, offering free vaccinations, basic veterinary treatment, sterilizations and welfare education. Our team will educate village residents - especially the pet owners and the children - to improve the quality of care given to animals and the attitudes towards animals
By vaccinating dogs against rabies, offering basic veterinary treatment will help dogs live longer, Education will help change attitudes towards animal welfare and sterilization will help reduce the future population of dogs.
