Warm greetings from all of us at Karin Community Initiatives Uganda (KCIU)!
We hope this report finds you in good health and high spirits. Thanks to your continued support, we’ve made significant steps in empowering families and children through access to healthcare.
Over the past few months, your generous contributions have helped us expand outreach to hard-to-reach communities in Northern Uganda. Through our Cooperative Health Insurance Groups, families who once couldn’t afford basic healthcare are now able to walk into our clinics with dignity and leave with the care they deserve — from malaria treatment to maternal health services.
Just this month, during an outreach at Pabit Village, Pakwelo parish, we screened and treated over 100 people for various illnesses, educated mothers on nutrition and disease prevention, and encouraged more families to enroll in our community insurance scheme. The smiles and relief we saw on their faces reminded us why we do this work — and it’s all because of you.
Aciro Sarah, a mother of four, recently shared her story with us:
“When my youngest daughter fell ill with malaria, I feared for her life. We had no money at home. But because we had joined the insurance group, I rushed her to Karin Medical Center in - Unyama, and she was treated without delay. She is now well, and I am so grateful. Without this insurance, I would have lost her.”
Stories like Sarah’s remind us of the critical importance of health insurance. When illness strikes during times of financial hardship, having insurance can mean the difference between life and death. It provides a safety net for families who might otherwise be unable to access urgent care.
Your impact goes beyond numbers. You are restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity in places where it's needed most. With your continued support, we can expand this life-saving coverage to even more families in need. Join us in making healthcare accessible—because no parent should lose a child simply due to lack of money.
