Hello!
The Challenging Heights Hovde House is truly special place. Hundreds of children have had their first chance at a childhood here. Friendships are formed, knowledge is gained and healing begins.
This week, nearly 30 children will be reunited with their families and begin the reintegration process. For the duration of their time at the shelter, the Recovery team has been assessing the children's progress physically, emotionally and academically while the Reintegration team has been tracing their families and ensuring they will have a safe and loving home to go to.
What this reintegration means for Challenging Heights is that we will have space to take in more rescued children. This entire year, every bed at the Challenging Heights Hovde House has been filled. While we're proud to say that means that we're doing all we can to address modern slavery, it has presented a challenge for us for rescuing more children.
However, that hasn't stopped us from moving ahead with our mission. Knowing that we would being having a reintegration, our Rescue team set off for Lake Volta last and will return shortly after reintegration day.
You can see why this expansion is so crucial! Thank you for believing in the magic of this place. We'll continue to keep you in the loop of any future developments.
