Contruction on Phase 1 has been slowly chugging along since my last update. Now, the supports have gone up and the construction workers are getting started on the ceiling beams and walls next. Now, you can really get a good idea of how big the classrooms will be. I was just standing in the middle of one of the rooms and imagining all the learning that will be happening there soon.
One fun thing that has happened at the shelter is that we threw a birthday party for all of the children on 14 February. Nearly all of the children who come to the Challenging Heights Hovde House don't know their birthday. However, we believe that every child deserves a day to be celebrated, and that's why we have the tradition of throwing a birthday party for them on Valentine's Day.
We're so excited about the upcoming opportunity to bring in more survivors and celebrate them!
