Students showing their emotions
When Mei, Professional of Enseña Peru (PEP) in Chepén, carried out a small workshop on emotions, she discovered that her students did not know them and that resulted in difficulties in recognizing and managing them. "I am a psychologist and I understand the impact that emotional health has on everyone, especially children, so I found it interesting to work with them on their emotions and the strategy to achieve it were the stories," Mei tells us.
Through funny characters, the students of the Clementina Peralta de Acuña school began their journey through basic emotions. They were learning to recognize them and discovered strategies to regulate them, always with a clear premise: all emotions are valid. After this process, they had the challenge of representing them through photographs.
Thanks to this workshop, the students are learning to recognize themselves from their emotions and even try to give advice to her teacher on the days when she feels sad. Currently, Mei, together with the director of IE, plan to extend this project to the different grades so that each student can know, validate and manage her emotions. Thanks to Mei's work, the collective action with Cerro Prieto agricultural and UGEL Chepén; The students of Chepén, together with their educational community, advance along new paths, recognizing their emotions and learning to manage them to co-create environments of peace together.
