Ensena Peru, for 15 years, has dedicated itself to unleashing the transformative power of education for every Peruvian student. As we celebrate this milestone, our vision remains resolute: by 2032, we strive to provide transformative education to at least 8 out of 10 children and young people. We envision a country where every student has the opportunity to realize their purpose and achieve their dreams.
In Peru, the education system faces significant challenges, ranking 55/81 in reading comprehension and 114/141 in primary education quality globally. The pandemic exacerbated the situation, leading to a learning loss equivalent to a 10-year setback and deepening social inequality across educational levels. In rural areas, the situation is even more dire, with only 16 out of 100 primary students understanding what they read, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive education intervention.
We contribute to a national movement led by change agents across education sectors, generating networks and coalitions. Through our programs, we incubate and accelerate effective and comprehensive educational methods in classrooms via our participants (professionals, teachers, and principals), evolving our approach from individual to collective action for systemic transformation in education.
Long-term impact: A nationwide movement of change agents who, through collective leadership, drive systemic education transformation in Peru. Medium-term impact: Transforming students' life trajectories to provide greater access to opportunities. Short-term impact: Achieving significant academic growth in classrooms to narrow the achievement gap, while also fostering personal growth and developing socio-emotional skills.
