Displacement affects children most deeply. Refugee children in Greece face trauma, language barriers, and educational disruption-often without stable support systems. Through its multicultural center PYXIDA, the Greek Council for Refugees (GCR) provides a safe space where children and families can receive psychosocial care, language and academic support, and access to creative and educational activities that restore confidence and stability.
Refugee children in Greece carry the trauma of war, loss, and displacement. Many struggle in school due to language gaps and emotional distress. Their families are often unable to support them, and public services are under-resourced or inaccessible. These children risk falling behind-educationally, emotionally, and socially-without targeted and compassionate intervention.
GCR, through PYXIDA center provides holistic care for children and families, offering individual psychological support, Greek language lessons for children and parents, academic assistance and school integration, creative workshops and storytelling, and social support and empowerment for caregivers, particularly mothers.
Every child deserves safety, hope, and opportunity. With your help, we create a stable environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
