Our project "Provide education in ethics and sustainability" had the following key activities in Q1/2016:
ETHIKUM Practical Seminar "Practical Ethics in our daily lives" on Feb 5th, 2016
In this seminar, participants discussed some theories concerning how to deal with ethical conflicts (autosuggestion, preparation & calibration, identification of one's own character weaknesses) and then went into two areas of very practical examples of such conflicts.
The first exercise was a break-out session concerning a topic we are all very familiar with: backbiting. The second one was a role play dealing with conflicts of interest of a bank consultant, which was developed in cooperation with the GLS Bank. In these two sessions, the participating ETHIKUM students were able to demonstrate their ethical and social competencies they had developed within their ETHIKUM courses.
Workshop (in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences, Munich) on Feb 9th, 2016
During this one-day event the following topics were discussed:
1. Identification of common ethical conflicts and conflict solving strategies
2. Transactional Analysis: dialogue techniques on how to better gauge one's counterpart
3. Cognitive Dissonance and implications in relevant real life dilemma situations
Outlook for the period April 1st until June 30th, 2016
