We aim to foster ethical literacy and to help people to apply it in their daily lives, following the definition given by Jafroudi (2016). In her opinion, "ethical literacy postulates a positive understanding of what it means to be human, regardless of time, place and culture....". We do this through workshops, fireside chats, Philobrunch (r), Master Classes and by supporting relevant projects. Our focus is always on application of ethical behavior in very concrete everyday situations.
Following the we definition of ethical literacy given by Jafroudi (2016): "... It denotes that an ethically literate person is not only aware of and understands the fundamental principles relevant to moral thinking, but that the person is also able to reflect, analyse and reason about moral issues and dilemmas and, more importantly, behave and act in a morally appropriate manner ..." The problems arise when we encounter ethical conflicts and dilemmas.
By creating a platform for ethical literacy and organizing workshops on the topic, we provide a unique opportunity for participants to reflect and discuss the ethical dilemmas that arise in their personal lives. Besides discussing various theories, we focus much more on practical, applied aspects. Our goal is that every participant leaves our events with at least one very concrete idea to implement. After all, its not about contemplating concepts, it is all about putting ethics into practice!
Ethica Rationalis takes on multiple roles here: 1. Focusing on practical and applied aspects of ethical education by offering specific programs (workshops, fireside chats, projects with profit or non-profit-organisations) 2. Creation of a network between all stakeholders - cooperation partners, social organizations and the private sector. We believe we can provide substantial orientation and contribution to ethical literacy.
