Through a formal ceremony, Foundation University turned over the Dumaguete Tourist Information and Assistance Center to its partner agency, the Philippine Ports Authority.
The said center is a response to the need of the community, a facility for the traveling public, according to University President Victor Vicente G. Sinco. This specific project was aimed at improving the facade of the port, where tourists and sea-travelers pass by upon entering and leaving Dumaguete City.
More importantly, the project is aimed at addressing the need for putting up a unified tourist information and assistance center which will be under the care of the Philippine Ports Authority.
On the other hand, local government officials from the Negros Oriental Governor and the City of Dumaguete graced the occasion and expressed support to the noble program of the University especially the Estudio Damgo.
Since its inauguration, the center has been of great use and in fact, many locals and tourists have visited the booth where they can be able to view Rizal Boulevard’s long stretch.
At present, it is now under the care of the Philippine Ports Authority while the City Tourism Office and the Provincial Tourism Office takes part in providing materials for tourists’ guidance and perusal.
Serving now as a welcoming sight for most local and international tourists, the Dumaguete Tourist Information and Assistance Center stands as an emblem of sustainable growth in the tourism industry.
