Estudio Damgo III: Continued Collaboration
By Dean Sinco | Project Director

Materials for Experiments
The reach of Estudio Damgo III has gotten wider and wider. More students and other faculty members had shared their expertise and knowledge on the specific fields. Others are more than happy to contribute a few of their hours as volunteers.
Each day new ideas and experiments are being tested for the project. Materials are available for students so that they can test whatever they formulated. Collaborations between students and faculty members are improving as they evaluate each attempt.
Members of the community are also taking part in this endeavor. We are going to locations to ask feedbacks and some ideas from locales.

Students constructing an instrument
Students are now developing mechanisms or technology for Estudio Damgo 3. They are now targeting to create a device that detects aquatic life near the structure. This is part of the ongoing endeavors of the project to continue helping the community. We want to sustain the assistance we are already providing. Aside from that, we also desire to enhance the what we are providing.
We have collaborations with students from different colleges and other interested groups to maximize the potential of ED3. What we are seing right now is more than what we thought it would be. The potential it carries encompasses the nearby community but also other nearby places.
We hope to continue and extend the Estudio Damgo Project as much as we can.

Floating Structure hopes rebuilding

The team has envisioned a project that the community and the beneficiary would take pride and eventually take care of - which is the essence of the program, however the collapsed of the structure has also sunk that vision. What will we do now? The decision was placed on the hands of the beneficiaries since the project has already been turned over to them. Unfortunately, the community decided not to put it back. So we all moved on.
But this month, the idea of putting back the structure was reopened. This is through Andrew Quitmeyer, who was sent by the US State Departments' Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the USA Embassy in Manila to Dumaguete for their CSR program. He will conduct a multi-day workshop that will examine how the creative community can interact with the endangered natural environment in April 2016. This will be the first introduction to the American Arts Incubator program in Dumaguete on environmental health. The workshop will include hands-on activities wherein participants will generate ideas, and four (4) concepts will receive small grants to realize them.
He believed that the third project of Estudio Damgo is very relevant to their cause. He is planning to use the remains of the structure as a platform for his equipment during his experiments and then later on rebuild the pyramid at a smaller scale. He will be conducting experiments with the marine lives in the area and their prospect is the marine sanctuary in Banilad, also a barangay in Dumaguete City. The rest of the details will be determined during the workshop this coming April. This improvement excites the Estudio Damgo III team and is looking forward to working with new team that will manage the said rebuilding.
