Project Overview
The Animal Sanctuary Initiative in Quetta is a pioneering effort by the Balochistan Rural Development Program (BRDP) to address the complete absence of organized animal welfare and protection services in the province. Thousands of stray, abandoned, and injured animals in Quetta face daily neglect, hunger, abuse, and untreated illness due to the lack of shelters, veterinary facilities, and rescue systems.
This project envisions the establishment of Balochistan’s first structured animal sanctuary designed to provide a safe environment where animals can be rescued, rehabilitated, treated, and protected with dignity and care. Beyond shelter, the sanctuary aims to promote humane attitudes, responsible coexistence, and long-term solutions for animal welfare in the region.
Fundraising Status and Financial Progress
Since its launch on the GlobalGiving platform, the project has successfully mobilized USD 1,941 through individual donors and supporters. All funds are securely held in BRDP’s official organizational account and reserved exclusively for project-related activities.
Although the funds raised so far represent an early phase in comparison to the overall fundraising goal, this progress demonstrates growing awareness and concern for animal welfare in Balochistan—an issue that has historically received little attention or institutional support.
Activities Undertaken So Far
At the current fundraising stage, BRDP has focused on groundwork and preparatory actions, including:
Internal planning for sanctuary design and phased development.
Preliminary consultations regarding suitable locations in and around Quetta.
Engagement with local veterinarians and animal welfare advocates to explore future collaboration.
Development of outreach materials to communicate the project’s vision and urgency to potential supporters.
These foundational steps ensure that once sufficient funding is secured, implementation can begin efficiently and responsibly.
Planned Implementation Strategy
Upon reaching higher funding milestones, BRDP will initiate the following core components:
Securing land through purchase or long-term lease for the sanctuary site.
Construction of essential facilities such as animal shelters, isolation areas, feeding zones, water systems, and boundary fencing.
Establishment of veterinary care services, including emergency treatment and routine health checks.
Launch of awareness and education campaigns to encourage humane treatment of animals and community involvement.
Hiring and training of caretakers, veterinary assistants, and support staff to ensure proper daily operations.
Donor Engagement and Resource Mobilization
To strengthen momentum, BRDP continues to expand its fundraising and visibility efforts by:
Actively promoting the project through digital platforms and storytelling.
Exploring partnerships with animal welfare organizations, corporate donors, and philanthropists who support ethical and sustainable causes.
Appreciation and Recognition
BRDP extends heartfelt gratitude to all donors and supporters who have contributed to this initiative. Your generosity reflects compassion for those who cannot speak for themselves. Each contribution regardless of size lays a brick in the foundation of a safer, kinder future for animals in Balochistan.
Closing Note
The establishment of an animal sanctuary in Quetta is not merely a project; it is a moral commitment to protect life, reduce suffering, and foster compassion in society. While the road ahead requires sustained support, the foundation has been laid.
We invite continued solidarity from individuals and institutions who believe that kindness toward animals is a reflection of humanity itself. With collective effort, this vision can become a permanent sanctuary of care, hope, and dignity.
