This proposal seeks to establish an ecosystem based Mobile Education Unit to cover the Maasai Mara ecosystems. The Maasai Mara is a unique ecosystem in Kenya facing myriad of conservation challenges which can be addressed through conservation education. The ecosystem is home to at least 90 animal species and over 500 bird species.
Threats in the Maasai Mara Ecosystem 1. Human Wildlife Conflict 2. Poaching especially bush meat and ostrich eggs 3. Habitat destruction and shrinkage 4. Resurgence of trade in ivory The above activities are degrading the ecosystem
The main goal of the proposed project is to conserve the ecosystems for the benefit of the current and future generations. 1. Awareness raising on sustainable livelihoods to benefit the schools and communities 2. Reducing demand for wildlife products 3. Environmental restoration
