The project is a rapid-response effort providing aid to displaced Gazans who have fled to Egypt. Founded in 2024, we started as a mutual aid project to provide essential support such as housing, food, medical care, and medication to hundreds of families. The project team is committed to promote resilience and dignity while providing a measure of stability during an unfathomably difficult time.
As of June 2024, over 115,000 Palestinians have fled to Egypt due to the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Almost everyone arrives with little to no savings due to the exorbitant fees to travel to Egypt and many arrive with serious injuries or illnesses. Upon arrival, displaced Gazans face enormous, life-threatening hardships. They do not have the legal protection of refugee status or legal residency to find housing, gain employment, or access education, leaving them vulnerable.
We provide rapid-response care by sourcing and distributing essential resources to displaced Gazans in Cairo. Working with local suppliers and leveraging our network, we provide necessities like food, clothing, medical care, and hygiene products. We provide access to schools and healthcare, and act as advocates for Gazans by covering rent, hospital fees, and other critical expenses. Our equitable approach ensures aid reaches those in the most urgent need.
By addressing immediate needs and offering pathways to self-sufficiency, we aim to restore agency to displaced Palestinians. By providing a sense of stability and security, our efforts empower individuals and families to begin to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. When families have stable housing, children can resume their education and begin to achieve their academic goals. We are helping create a foundation for long-term resilience and a better future for displaced families.
