Hunger can affect every part of a child’s life. When families struggle to produce or afford enough food, children may experience poor nutrition, difficulty concentrating at school, and increased household vulnerability.
At F SSIBU Mission Foundation, we are strengthening family farming as part of our broader commitment to protecting and nurturing vulnerable children. We help families learn improved agricultural practices and, where possible, provide seeds and other basic support that can help them establish productive gardens.
Our approach emphasizes practical knowledge. Families learn about crop selection, planting, soil fertility, garden maintenance, harvesting, food preservation, and responsible use of farm resources. We also encourage household gardens that can provide vegetables for daily meals.
Girls participate in these activities because food security is closely connected to their wellbeing and future. We want girls to acquire practical skills that they can carry into adulthood and use to support their own households.
Continued donor investment can enable us to reach more families with quality seeds, training, demonstrations, and agricultural follow-up. It can also help us connect farming with poultry and other livelihood activities that diversify household income.
Every successful family garden can make a meaningful difference. A harvest can provide meals, reduce food expenses, create surplus for sale, and give parents greater ability to meet children’s basic needs.
By supporting family farming, donors are not simply supporting agriculture. They are helping families create a stronger foundation for children to grow, learn, and remain hopeful.
Together, we can help families move from hunger toward greater food security and resilience.
