Poultry farming can provide families with food, manure, and an opportunity to generate income from a relatively manageable household enterprise. F SSIBU Mission Foundation is supporting vulnerable families to understand how poultry can become a practical pathway toward greater economic resilience.
Our approach goes beyond distributing birds. Families receive guidance on basic poultry management, housing, feeding, hygiene, disease prevention, record keeping, and responsible breeding. We encourage families to treat poultry as an enterprise that requires planning, care, and reinvestment.
For girls in our programs, poultry farming can also become a valuable life and livelihood skill. We teach them how to participate in feeding, cleaning, monitoring, record keeping, and basic business planning. These skills can help girls understand the relationship between agriculture, responsibility, and income generation.
A successful poultry project can gradually provide eggs, meat, breeding stock, and income. Families can sell part of their production while retaining some birds to expand their flock. Poultry manure can also support household gardens, creating a connection between livestock and crop production.
Donors can help us provide poultry starter support, training, improved housing materials, vaccination assistance, and follow-up mentorship to families who need a sustainable livelihood opportunity.
For a vulnerable household, a small poultry project can become more than a few birds. It can represent a source of food, school support, household income, confidence, and hope.
Your partnership can help families build livelihoods that continue producing benefits long after the initial support.
